Add a licence to your data

After you have uploaded and imported data to your site, you will be able to set the licence terms. A licence sets out the permissions the data owner is providing to the user -- that is, a licence makes it clear what can (and cannot) be done with a particular dataset.

All Koordinates sites have built-in Creative Commons licences, a free and standardised open licence. In addition, site administrators can define their own custom licences.

In this guide, we outline how you can add and manage licences on your data.

1

Upload and Import your data

Learn more about how to do so in our introductory guide.

2

Select your licence

After you select Import for your dataset, you will have the choice to add license information.

Simply scroll down to decide which license you wish to use.

3

Edit your licence using Edit [BETA]

At a later stage, you may wish to edit your license information. Alternatively, you may wish to add a new license.

To do so, click on the grey bar next to the large ‘+’ sign on your chosen dataset and select Edit [BETA].

4

Edit your licence

After you click on Edit [Beta], a pop-up screen will give you the same range of license options as 2), above.
