Data User FAQs

Click the '+' button next to your chosen dataset to add data to the map. Click the '-' button to remove data from the map.

How can I change my password?

Why do I have to sign up to export data?

Signing up ensures that Koordinates and data publishers know who is accepting the licence and Terms of Use.

I want more data! Who do I ask?

If you want more data from a specific organisation, your best bet is to contact them directly and request that they publish the data you want on their Koordinates site. Note that Koordinates itself doesn't own the data we publish, and the decisions about what to publish are made by the data publishers themselves.

Can I publish my data on Koordinates?

Absolutely. We have a range of plans for prospective publishers. Check out your options here, or get in touch.

Which file format should I use?

Your choice of file format will depend on what you want to do with your data. More specifically, it will depend on the software application you are using. Learn more about file formats here.

What does this licence mean?

A licence is how publishers let you know what you can legally do (and not do) with any data you access on Koordinates. Koordinates supports a range of Creative Commons licences, which we explain in more detail in our licensing guide.

I had an error in my export. What happened?

Sometimes, data exports from Koordinates will face errors, and not complete. When this happens, a ticket is automatically sent to our support team, who will work to resolve the problem as soon as possible.

The data I want exceeds the site's download limits. What should I do?

Koordinates offers users the option to courier data that exceeds download limits on the site. Learn more about courier orders here.

I accidentally purchased more data than I need.

Contact support and we will work to reverse your order.

The data I want hasn't been updated recently. What do I do?

Contact the data publisher and ask about their plans for updates to your chosen data.

I don't want the entire data layer. Can I export just the area I want?

All sites on the Koordinates platform allow users to 'crop' data using a drag and drop tool. For some datasets, users can crop by pre-defined region. Learn more about how to crop data on Koordinates.

I want to export data in a file format you don't support. Will you support it in the future?

We are constantly adding to the list of file formats we support. Get in touch and let us know what file format in which you wish to download your chosen data.

What is EPSG?

EPSG is an international database of projections from around the world. Each project in the database has a unique number, which is used by software applications to correctly display geospatial data.

Why is my PDF so big?

PDF exports from Koordinates provide the underlying data to what you see previewed in the map. This is why the size of PDF exports is likely to be much greater than a comparable screenshot.
