Commit changes to a repository

After you create a data repository, you may wish to make edits in your desktop software, such as your GIS. 

After making — and saving — edits in your desktop software, you will have the option of committing these edits to your data repository. This commit will be added to the version history for that dataset, which will make it easier for others to understand or review your edits. 

The process for committing changes is simple.

Select 'Show' for your data repository

This will reveal the location of your data on your desktop, and allow you to open it in your desktop software.

Make edits in desktop software

After you have finished making your edits, click 'Save.' This will ensure any changes you have made are visible inside the Koordinates App.

Click on your data repository

After selecting your data repo, you will be shown a 

You will now be able to see a summary of your edits, including a map and table view of the data changes.

Check the 'Add' box and describe your edits

A typical description will be a succinct, one-sentence summary of your changes.

Click 'Commit'

After processing your commit, the Koordinates App will now show your edits in the change history for your data repository.
