Update your data

Koordinates offers publishers several ways to update published data. The method you choose will depend on the nature and frequency of your updates.

For individual datasets, it may be preferable to update manually using the data management dashboard. Manually updating multiple datasets, though, can be a burden if there is a need to update multiple datasets on a regular basis.

To reduce this burden on publishers, Koordinates has a number of features and services available for updating multiple datasets at the same time, which require little or no involvement from the publisher’s data team.

In this guide, we outline how to manually update individual datasets.

1

Click Add and Create/Update Layers

This will take you to the data management dashboard.

If you’ve just uploaded your data, you’ll be there already, and you can skip to 2., below.

2

Select the Import and Update Data tab

Once you’re in the data management dashboard, select the Import and Update Data tab.

3

Choose your data and click Update existing.

The next step is to choose which dataset you wish to use, and then click Update existing. You can do this by clicking the box next to your chosen dataset.

You may have to first click on its containing folder.

4

Edit details and click Save

Finally, you’ll be given the option of editing the details for your dataset. You’ll have the option of changing a range of information, including title, tags, category, description, license and permissions.

Once you’ve confirmed the details for your dataset, click Save and update at the bottom of the screen. Before you do so, though, remember that updating a dataset with new data is irreversible.

5

Confirm update

You’ll be presented with a summary of the changes made to your chosen dataset, and will be asked to confirm.

Check your changes, before clicking Continue to edit layer details.
