'Raster' is the term used in the geospatial world for image data. One of the more common examples of raster data is aerial photography.
Spatial queries for raster data
For spatial queries for raster data, we return the tile of the source data used to create the layer.
Translating rasters for export
Koordinates supports multiple projections for raster exports. When a user chooses the non-original projection is chosen, we transform the data to ensure that it fits the new projection. We use the 'cubic' method for translation of raster data, and 'nearest neighbour' for grid data.
For grid rasters, we do not change cell values. Instead, we change the cell location, depending on your chosen projection.
Koordinates auto-detects which type of raster data is being imported, so that it can be most effectively stored and previewed. The platform process grid data to focus on precision, and aerial photos to focus on image quality.
Koordinates also changes interpolation methods depending on whether the zoom level chosen by the user is more or less than the original resolution of the source data.
Raster data and the anti-meridian
Koordinates supports raster data imports that cross the anti-meridian
Raster exports that cross the anti-meridian are not supported if they differ from the original projection.
