Troubleshooting: data doesn't load
If a Koordinates site loads but the list of datasets stays as grey placeholders, the map stays blank, or data never appears, the cause is often in your browser or network rather than the site. A good sign is that the same site works on another device or for a colleague.
Try these in order:
- Try a private or incognito window. This turns off most extensions and starts without stored site data.
- Turn off browser extensions. Ad blockers, tracker blockers and privacy tools can block the requests a site needs to show data. Turn them off for the site, or one at a time, to find the cause.
- Check that WebGL is on. The map needs WebGL, a browser feature for drawing graphics. Make sure hardware acceleration is turned on in your browser settings, and update your browser and graphics drivers.
- Try another browser. Use the latest version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
- Try another network. Corporate proxies, firewalls and web filters can block parts of a site. Try a different network, such as a phone hotspot, with any VPN turned off. If that works, ask your IT team to allow the site’s domain.
If it still doesn’t load, raise a ticket with Koordinates support. Include the web address of the site, a screenshot, the browser you used, and any red errors shown in the browser’s developer console (press F12 and open the Console tab). Remove any API keys or passwords from screenshots and copied text first.
